Review from Gemstar

Upon first entry to Lisa's gallery I am met with a quote by Howard Thurman "Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." I just knew this was going to be a feast for my eyes when I clicked the next link to view Lisa's works of art, and I was right. This is a soul who can paint abstract(one of my favorite styles) and expresses color beyond the imagination. It is with great privilege to share about Lisa's work, with all of my friends online. She is a wonderful vibrant soul and my friend on twitter. Check out her latest creations, she is art in pure form. -Gemstar

Artist's Statement: My paintings, created with acrylic paint and oil pastel, speak the language of my ever-changing inner emotions. My work has character and passion, defined by bold lines and bright colours.

Fresh and unique, my work stands strong with a burning energy that remains unforgettable. Possessed with an indefatigable energy, my paintings are an explosion of vibrancy and colour, with each individual piece carrying messages of optimism, hope and joy.

An Artist's Medium

From Picasso to the Belfast Print Workshop, we explore the wide appeal of printmaking

Printmaking is an art form that doesn’t garner a lot of media coverage, yet some of the most accomplished and valuable images in the history of world art stem from printmaking. Pablo Picasso and Henry Matisse were both printmakers as well as painters. Read more

In and Out of Geometry

Six artists bring planes and perspective to the Ormeau Baths Gallery.

Many people have trouble understanding and appreciating abstract art. A painting described as 'representational' portrays specific, recognizable physical objects. Abstract paintings are different; frequently possessing designs, shapes or colours that do not stand for specific physical objects. Read more

Against All Odds?

Northern Ireland's artists have an uphill struggle, writes Lisa Conlan.

With rent to pay, trying to keep yourself alive, buying art materials and getting someone to believe in you (apart from your mum), the glimmer of hope in the distance sometimes seems so far away that you want to stop reaching. Tea and sandwiches flowed freely throughout the evening and the special unveiling of the Medugorje painting "wowed" the guests and the proud owner of the Drummond hotel - Mairead Peoples, who now owns the painting.
